We live as long as we fly

A Walk through Lauterbrunnen and Impressions of Switzerland

In the evening we took a walk around the village of Lauterbrunnen itself, which was quite cute, albeit incredibly touristy.

We admired the illuminated waterfall, and then we still managed to grab a kebab each. In the joint they gave me boiling water for free. Even though it wasn't hot enough because it came from a coffee machine, it was still nice. We headed home a bit on the late side. Out of sheer exhaustion I spaced out, and blew both the train and the bus from Zug to Baar, which happens to me pretty rarely. I didn't want to wait, so I walked another 3km, as if the previous 20k steps weren't enough. Got caught in a little bit of rain, and on top of that went slightly the wrong way. Oh well, the main thing is I didn't get lost.

I don't remember if I told you, but the croissants in Switzerland are wonderful - the crust is crispy, and inside they are soft and fresh. However, they are only sold in the morning - don't expect them after lunch. Either the makers love order, or they don't want to ruin the taste. My friend complains about the food in Switzerland. Looks like the only way out is to eat nothing but croissants!

Switzerland, of course, is a stunning country. Whether I was struck by the warm welcome, the magnificence of the mountains, or the comfort of the trains and the wealth of the residents, it made a very strong impression. I immediately felt like going back there again, which happens to me pretty rarely. Then again, there was a solid balance of shared and solo time (though perhaps with a slight tilt towards the former). Anyway, next year, if the opportunity arises, I would like to come again. To see the Large Hadron Collider, the steepest railway in the world at Pilatus, the thermal springs in Bad Ragaz, the Vallorbe caves, and countless other wonders. Who knows, maybe by that time I'll even get the chance to ride around the mountains on a bike, which would be totally sick.

I get that this sounds like the famous advice to eat cake if there is no bread. Nevertheless - if you have the chance, I highly recommend visiting Switzerland, and definitely go into the mountains.
